EBank, Faisal Islamic Bank, and CIB lead listed banks in asset coverage ratio for deposits by end of September 2025
The First Bank list of the best banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange in terms of asset coverage rate for deposits at the end of September 2025 revealed that the Export Development Bank of Egypt “EBank” took the lead, after its asset coverage rate reached 134.95%, with total assets amounting to EGP 197.46 bn, while its deposits recorded EGP 146.33 bn by the end of September 2025.
The list, which included all 12 banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, showed that all banks maintained strong asset coverage rates for their customers’ deposits by the end of September 2025.
The asset coverage index for deposits reflects the bank’s ability to cover its customers’ deposits using its asset portfolio. The classification is based on the formula (Assets / Deposits) × 100, and the higher the ratio, the greater the level of security the bank provides to its depositor base across different segments.
Returning to the list, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt ranked second with an asset coverage rate of 131.68%, after its asset portfolio reached EGP 250.86 bn, while its customer deposits recorded EGP 190.52 bn by the end of September 2025.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) came in third with an asset coverage rate of 129.36%, as its total assets reached EGP 1.35 tn, while its deposits stood at EGP 1.04 tn by the end of the same period.
The United Bank ranked fourth with a coverage rate of 129.07%, after its total assets reached EGP 93.45 bn, while its customers’ deposits recorded EGP 72.40 bn by the end of September 2025.
Meanwhile, Credit Agricole Egypt secured fifth place with an asset coverage rate of 129.06%, with total assets amounting to EGP 138.19 bn, while its deposit portfolio stood at EGP 107.07 bn by the end of the same period.
It is worth noting that all figures and coverage ratios cited in this analysis are based on the independently published financial statements of each bank as of September 2025.
