FABMISR, AAIB, and HSBC-Egypt Lead Egypt’s Private Banks in Assets-to-Deposits Coverage Ratio by End of June 2025
FABMISR tops the list of Egypt’s private banks with the highest assets-to-deposits coverage ratio, recording 159.82%, followed by AAIB with 139.29%,
HSBC-Egypt secured third place with a coverage ratio of 135.54%. Meanwhile, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt and Emirates NBD-Egypt ranked fourth and fifth with ratios of 131.98% and 130.24%, respectively.
According to First Bank’s list of Top Private Banks by Assets-to-Deposits Coverage Ratio as of June 2025, First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» claimed the lead with a ratio of 159.82%, supported by total assets amounting to EGP 461.05 billion, compared to total deposits of EGP 288.48 billion at the end of June 2025.
The assets-to-deposits coverage ratio measures a bank’s ability to cover its customer deposits using its total assets. It is calculated using the formula:
(Total Assets ÷ Total Deposits) × 100.
A higher ratio reflects stronger financial stability and greater security for depositors across different customer segments.
The analysis included 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available for the period under review. The findings revealed that all banks analyzed maintained strong coverage ratios, indicating robust financial positions.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as those in which private ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
Returning to the rankings Arab African International Bank «AAIB» secured second place with a coverage ratio of 139.29%, supported by total assets of EGP 927.51 billion and total deposits of EGP 665.88 billion.
HSBC-Egypt ranked third, recording a ratio of 135.54%, with total assets of EGP 300.33 billion and total deposits of EGP 221.58 billion.
Faisal Islamic Bank-Egypt came fourth, achieving a ratio of 131.98%, with total assets of EGP 248.43 billion and total deposits of EGP 188.23 billion.
Emirates NBD-Egypt took fifth place, with a ratio of 130.24%, backed by assets of EGP 192.25 billion and deposits of EGP 147.61 billion.
Credit Agricole Egypt ranked sixth with a ratio of 129.79%. The bank’s total assets amounted to EGP 134.85 billion, while total deposits reached EGP 103.89 billion.
Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» came in seventh with a ratio of 129.77%. The bank recorded total assets of EGP 227.32 billion and total deposits of EGP 175.17 billion.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» ranked eighth with a ratio of 126.72%. The bank’s total assets stood at EGP 296.01 billion, while total deposits amounted to EGP 233.60 billion.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» was ninth with a ratio of 126.38%. The bank posted total assets of EGP 1.31 trillion and total deposits of EGP 1.04 trillion.
Attijariwafa Bank Egypt ranked tenth with a ratio of 125.94%. The bank’s total assets reached EGP 128.95 billion, while total deposits stood at EGP 102.40 billion.
