«Al Baraka», «KFH-Egypt», and «EBank» Lead Growth in Personal Financing Over the Past 3 Years

Arab banking groups secure four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing banks
The First Bank ranking of the fastest-growing banks in personal financing over the past three years revealed that Al Baraka Bank topped the list, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 86.1%. Its personal financing portfolio rose to EGP 12.18 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 1.89 billion at the end of 2021.
Kuwait Finance House-Egypt «KFH-Egypt» ranked second, achieving a growth rate of 55.7% over the past three years, followed by the Export Development Bank of Egypt «EBank» in third place with a growth rate of 49.5% over the same period.
The ranking covered 23 banks operating within the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data were available over the past three years. It is worth noting that ABC and FABMISR recorded growth rates of 40.8% and 33.9%, respectively, over the same period due to acquisition-related transactions; therefore, both banks were excluded from the ranking to ensure comparability.
The classification confirmed the outperformance of private-sector banks, which accounted for 8 out of the top 10 fastest-growing banks in personal financing, compared to only two public-sector banks.
The private banks included among the top 10 fastest-growing in personal financing during the period under review were: Al Baraka, Kuwait Finance House – Egypt, Suez Canal Bank, HSBC Egypt, BANK NXT, saib, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait-Egypt, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt, the two public-sector banks on the list were National Bank of Egypt and EBank.
The data also highlighted the strong performance of Arab banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing banks in personal financing over the past three years, namely: Al Baraka, Kuwait Finance House-Egypt, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait-Egypt, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt.
At the level of Islamic banks, the list showed notable outperformance, with three Islamic banks ranking among the top 10 fastest-growing in personal financing over the past three years: Al Baraka, Kuwait Finance House-Egypt, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt.
On the other hand, the National Bank of Egypt recorded the largest portfolio size and the highest absolute increase during the period under review. Its personal financing portfolio rose to EGP 295.87 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 131.91 billion at the end of 2021, reflecting a growth rate of 30.9% and a total increase of EGP 163.95 billion.
In contrast, the Arab International Bank «AIB» recorded the lowest growth rate in personal financing over the past three years, at just 6.3%.
