Net Profits Decline for 9 Banks in the First 9 Months
The «First Bank» list of the fastest growing banks in terms of net profits during the first 9 months of 2025 revealed that BANK NXT topped the list with a growth rate of 96.4%, as its net profits increased to 2.61 billion EGP in the first 9 months of 2025, compared to 1.33 billion EGP during the same period in 2024.
EGBANK came second, with its net profits soaring by about 64.8%, reaching 3.18 billion EGP during the first 9 months of 2025, compared to 1.93 billion EGP in the same period of 2024.
The Housing and Development Bank ranked third, with a growth rate of 62.5%, as its net profits reached approximately 13.44 billion EGP in the first 9 months of 2025, compared to 8.27 billion EGP in the same period of 2024.
The First Bank list surveyed the net profits of 27 banks operating in Egypt’s banking sector for which financial data was available for the first 9 months of 2025. The data showed that 18 of these banks had positive growth in their net profits, while 9 banks recorded significant declines.
The list revealed the clear dominance of the private sector, as private banks claimed 8 spots in the Top 10 Fastest Growing Banks. These banks are: BANK NXT, EGBANK, Suez Canal Bank, CIB, ADIB, Alexandria Bank, Al Baraka Bank, and ADCB.
On the other hand, public banks only secured two spots in the top 10, with Housing and Development Bank ranking fourth and Cairo Bank in sixth place.
Regarding the Arab banking groups operating in Egypt, 3 groups secured spots among the top 10 fastest growing banks: ADIB, Al Baraka, and ADCB.
Islamic banks claimed two spots in the top 10, with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt «ADIB» securing seventh place, and Al Baraka Bank in ninth place.
As for the listed banks on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, they occupied 6 spots among the top 10 fastest growing banks, which are: EGBANK, Suez Canal Bank, Housing and Development Bank, CIB, ADIB, and Al Baraka Bank.
Furthermore, the data showed that 9 banks experienced a noticeable decline in their net profits in the first 9 months of 2025. These banks are: SAIB, HSBC, The United Bank, Credit Agricole, Commercial International Bank (CIB), National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt, FABMISR, Kuwait Finance House, and Faisal Islamic Bank.
It should be noted that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are based on the standalone financial statements disclosed by each bank at the end of September 2025.
