BANK NXT, EGBANK, and Suez Canal Bank Lead Private Sector Banks in Net Profit Growth During the First 9M of 2025

«BANK NXT» Tops the List of the Fastest-Growing Private Sector Banks in Net Profits, «EGBANK» Ranks Second
Arab banking groups secured four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks in terms of net profits, while Islamic banks claimed two seats.
Meanwhile, seven banks recorded a noticeable decline in net profits compared to the same period last year.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» continues to lead private sector banks in terms of the highest net profits achieved.
The First Bank list of the fastest-growing private sector banks in net profits during the first nine months of 2025 revealed that BANK NXT topped the ranking, posting a 96.4% growth rate after achieving net profits of EGP 2.61 billion during the period, compared to EGP 1.33 billion in the same period of 2024.
EGBANK ranked second with a 64.8% growth rate, reporting net profits of EGP 3.18 billion during the first nine months of 2025, up from EGP 1.93 billion in the corresponding period of 2024.
Suez Canal Bank came in third, recording a 61.8% growth rate, with net profits reaching EGP 5.05 billion during the first nine months of the current year, compared to EGP 3.12 billion in the same period of 2024.
The ranking also highlighted the continued outperformance of Commercial International Bank (CIB) as the most profitable private sector bank, after posting net profits of EGP 62.21 billion during the first nine months of 2025, compared to EGP 42.56 billion in the same period of 2024, representing a 46.2% growth rate.
The First Bank list tracked net profits for 20 private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector with available financial data for the first nine months of 2025, The data showed that 13 banks recorded positive growth rates, while 7 banks experienced notable declines, based on each bank’s published standalone financial statements.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt ranked last on the list after recording a sharp 70.3% decline in net profits, posting EGP 2.47 billion during the first nine months of 2025, compared to EGP 8.32 billion in the same period of 2024.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as banks in which private capital ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The data also pointed to the strong performance of Arab banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks in net profits during the first nine months of 2025, namely: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Baraka Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, and National Bank of Kuwait, while other banks were absent from the top ten.
At the level of Islamic banks, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Al Baraka Bank were included among the top 10 fastest-growing private sector banks in net profits, while other Islamic banks did not feature in the leading positions.
