The «First Bank» list of private sector banks most focused on financial investments by the end of September 2025 revealed that Faisal Islamic Bank – Egypt topped the list, with a concentration ratio of 55.31%, after its financial investments portfolio reached EGP 138.75 bn, while its total assets portfolio amounted to EGP 250.86 bn by the end of last September.

«HSBC» ranked second, with 43.08% of its total assets concentrated in financial investments valued at EGP 132.85 bn, while its total assets reached EGP 308.39 bn by the end of September 2025.

«CIB» secured third place, with a concentration ratio of 41.56%, after its financial investments portfolio reached EGP 560.92 bn, and its total assets amounted to EGP 1.35 tn by the end of September 2025.

The list tracks the investment orientations of 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data were available for the period under analysis, specifically at the level of financial investments portfolios. It relies on the metric (Financial Investments / Assets) to provide an indicator of how concentrated a bank’s assets are in financial investments.

The list also revealed a strong presence of foreign banking groups operating in Egypt within the ranking, capturing 6 spots among the top ten: «HSBC», «AlexBank», «FABMISR», «Al Baraka», «QNB», and «Emirates NBD».

Banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange secured half of the top ten positions among private sector banks most focused on financial investments, including: «Faisal Islamic Bank», «CIB», «Al Baraka», «EGBANK», and «QNB».

Islamic banks also captured two spots among the top ten: «Faisal Islamic Bank» and «Al Baraka».

It is noteworthy that private sector banks are those in which total private capital contribution exceeds 50%, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
