One bank records a decline in financial investments during the first 9 months

The First Bank ranking of the fastest-growing private-sector banks operating in Egypt in terms of financial investments during the first nine months of 2025 revealed that Emirates NBD Egypt topped the list, posting a growth rate of 125.4% over the period. The bank’s financial investment portfolio reached EGP 57.42 billion as of end-September 2025, compared with EGP 25.47 billion at end-2024.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt «ABK–Egypt» ranked second, recording a growth rate of 102.2% during the first nine months of the year, with financial investments amounting to EGP 35.91 billion by end-September 2025, up from EGP 17.76 billion at end-2024.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB» came in third with a growth rate of 71.1%, as its financial investment portfolio rose to EGP 71.80 billion by end-September 2025, compared with EGP 41.97 billion at end-2024.

The First Bank list monitored the total financial investment portfolios of 21 private-sector banks operating within the Egyptian banking system for which financial data were available during the first nine months of 2025. The data showed that 20 banks achieved positive growth rates, while one bank recorded a noticeable decline, based on each bank’s published standalone financial statements.

The data also highlighted the strong performance of foreign banking groups operating in Egypt, which captured seven positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in financial investments during the first nine months of 2025. These banks are: Emirates NBD, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Kuwait Finance House, HSBC, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and National Bank of Kuwait, while other groups were absent from the top ten.

Banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) secured three positions among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in financial investments during the period, namely: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Suez Canal Bank, and Commercial International Bank «CIB».

At the level of Islamic banks, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Kuwait Finance House featured among the top 10 fastest-growing private-sector banks in financial investments during the first nine months of 2025.

The ranking also showed that one bank recorded a decline in financial investments during the period.

It is worth noting that private-sector banks are defined as banks in which private capital ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector.
