Emirates NBD, SC Bank, and ABK-Egypt Lead Private Sector Banks in Financial Investments Growth During H1 2025

Emirates NBD topped the list of the fastest-growing private sector banks in terms of total financial investments, recording a growth rate of 89.3%, while SC Bank ranked second with a growth rate of 51.8%.

ABK-Egypt secured the third position with 30.2%, followed by ADIB-Egypt and FABMISR in fourth and fifth place, achieving growth rates of 28.7% and 23.4%, respectively, during the first half of 2025.

Meanwhile, Bank of Alexandria, KFH-Egypt, and CIB were also among the top ten fastest-growing private sector banks in financial investments, with growth rates of 18.353%, 18.351%, and 18%, respectively.

The First Bank report on the fastest-growing private sector banks in total financial investments during the first half of 2025 revealed that Emirates NBD – Egypt ranked first, with its investment portfolio surging by 89.3% to reach EGP 48.22 billion by the end of June 2025, up from EGP 25.47 billion at the end of 2024.

The list, which included 21 private sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, showed that 15 banks achieved positive growth in their investment portfolios, while six banks recorded declines during H1 2025, according to each bank’s independently published financial statements.

It is worth noting that private sector banks are defined as those in which private ownership exceeds 50% of total capital, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector.

Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» ranked second, supported by a 51.8% increase in its total financial investments and treasury bills, reaching EGP 46.93 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 30.92 billion at the end of 2024.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt «ABK-Egypt» came in third, with total financial investments rising by 30.2% to EGP 23.13 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 17.76 billion at the end of 2024.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» ranked fourth, with its financial investments increasing by 28.7% to reach EGP 54.03 billion at the end of June 2025, up from EGP 41.97 billion at the end of 2024.

First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» secured fifth place, with its portfolio growing by 23.4% in the first six months of 2025 to reach EGP 160.45 billion, compared to EGP 130 billion at the end of 2024.

Bank of Alexandria «Alex Bank» ranked sixth, achieving 18.353% growth in financial investments to reach EGP 64.65 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 54.62 billion at the end of 2024.

Kuwait Finance House-Egypt «KFH-Egypt» followed closely in seventh place, with a growth rate of 18.351%, recording EGP 28.29 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 23.91 billion a year earlier.

Commercial International Bank «CIB» came eighth, after its financial investments rose by 18% to reach EGP 472.51 billion at the end of June 2025, up from EGP 400.31 billion at the end of 2024.

Arab African International Bank «AAIB» ranked ninth, with a 12.2% increase in total financial investments, reaching EGP 338.73 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 301.81 billion at the end of 2024.

Finally, Attijariwafa Bank Egypt secured tenth place, with its total financial investments rising by 11.7% to EGP 30.90 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 27.66 billion at the end of 2024.
