11 Egyptian Banks Included in the «First Bank» List of the Top 100 Banks by Deposits in the Middle East and North Africa
A recent ranking issued by «First Bank» of the top 100 banks by customer deposits in the Middle East and North Africa revealed the presence of 11 Egyptian banking brands within the list.
The ranking was based on banks’ total customer deposits as officially reported and denominated in USD, providing a unified benchmark for comparison across banking institutions. Banks without available official financial data were excluded to ensure accuracy and methodological reliability.
It is worth noting that the ranking covered parent banking groups across Arab countries, excluding their foreign subsidiaries.
In terms of Egyptian banks’ performance within the ranking, «National Bank of Egypt (NBE)» secured 8th place across MENA and ranked 1st among Egyptian banks, with total deposits reaching 117.63 USD bn as of September 2025.
«Banque Misr» ranked 18th across MENA and 2nd among Egyptian banks, with deposits totaling 60.55 USD bn.
«Commercial International Bank – Egypt » came in 38th place across MENA and 3rd locally, with a deposit portfolio of 21.80 USD bn.
«Arab African International Bank » ranked 47th across MENA and 4th among Egyptian banks, recording deposits of 14.10 USD bn.
«Banque du Caire» secured 71st place across MENA and 5th locally, with deposits reaching 8.31 USD bn.
«Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt» ranked 87th across MENA and 6th among Egyptian banks, with total deposits of 3.98 USD bn.
«Suez Canal Bank» came in 89th place across MENA and 7th locally, with deposits totaling 3.76 USD bn.
«Bank of Alexandria» ranked 90th across MENA and 8th among Egyptian banks, with deposits reaching 3.62 USD bn.
«Housing & Development Bank » secured 92nd place across MENA and 9th locally, with total deposits of 3.43 USD bn.
«saib» ranked 95th across MENA and 10th among Egyptian banks, with deposits amounting to 3.13 USD bn.
Finally, «Export Development Bank of Egypt » came in 98th place across MENA and 11th locally, with total deposits reaching 3.06 USD bn as of September 2025.
