Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thursday
the banking sector in the Egyptian Stock Exchange closed in today’s trading session on Thursday, July 16, 2026, recording an increase in its market capitalization by 0.52%, reaching EGP 898.136 billion at the end of today’s session, compared to 893.529 the previous trading session's closing.
The sector’s market capitalization accounted for 24.07% of the total market capitalization, the highest share among all listed sectors on the exchange.
Trading value on banking sector stocks reached EGP 448.929 million, representing 3.75% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 8.412 million shares were traded in the sector, accounting for 0.23% of the overall trading volume of the market.
The Egyptian Exchange closed at the end of today’s trading session with a broad increase in the main indices, while foreign investors tended toward buying, recording a net purchase value of approximately EGP 258.8 million.
The benchmark EGX30 index increased by 0.70% to close at 52.928 points, while the EGX70 index increased by 1.54% to 17.049 points, and the EGX100 index gained 1.24% to close at 22.887 points.
