QNB Egypt Tops the Ranking, Reinforcing Its Position as the Largest Foreign Bank in the Corporate and Institutional Lending Market

The First Bank Corporate Lending Competitiveness Index, which tracks the performance of foreign banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector over the past 5 years, ranked QNB Egypt first after its corporate loan portfolio increased by 242.06 EGP bn, reaching 383.73 EGP bn at the end of 2025, compared with 141.67 EGP bn at the end of 2020.
ADIB Egypt ranked second, with its corporate loan portfolio expanding by 76.09 EGP bn over the past 5 years to reach 106.54 EGP bn at the end of 2025, up from 30.45 EGP bn at the end of 2020.
NBK Egypt secured third place after recording an increase of 69.16 EGP bn in corporate lending over the same period, with its corporate loan portfolio reaching 97.24 EGP bn at the end of 2025, compared with 28.09 EGP bn at the end of 2020.
The First Bank Corporate Lending Competitiveness Index tracks the absolute increase in corporate loan portfolios across 12 foreign banks for which financial data were available. The findings showed that all banks included in the analysis succeeded in expanding their corporate lending portfolios during the review period.
The index measures banks' ability to offer credit facilities and lending products to corporate and institutional clients. It is based on the absolute increase in corporate loans, reflecting each bank's success in expanding its corporate lending portfolio.
The 12 foreign banks recorded strong growth in corporate lending over the past five years, with total corporate loans reaching approximately 1.12 EGP tn at the end of 2025, compared with 398.29 EGP bn at the end of 2020, representing an increase of 725.54 EGP bn during the period under review.
The ranking showed that the top five positions were occupied by QNB Egypt, ADIB Egypt, ABK Egypt, NBK Egypt and KFH Egypt.
Islamic banks also secured two positions among the top five, with ADIB Egypt ranking second and KFH Egypt placing fourth.
