The «First Bank» ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt in terms of financing over the last 3 years revealed that Suez Canal Bank claimed the top spot, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 58.12% over the last 3 years, reaching EGP 127.04 bn at the end of 2025, compared to EGP 32.14 bn at the end of 2022.
National Bank of Egypt (NBE) secured the second position, with its total financing growing at a compound annual growth rate of 39.88% over the last 3 years. This strong growth came as the bank expanded its financing portfolio by nearly EGP 3 tn during the period under analysis.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt «ADIB – Egypt» ranked third, with a compound annual growth rate of 37.42% over the last 3 years. The bank’s total customer financing portfolio reached EGP 154.87 bn at the end of December 2025, compared to EGP 59.68 bn at the end of 2022.
The «First Bank» ranking tracked the development of the financing portfolios of 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available, showing that all banks recorded positive growth rates over the last 3 years.
At the sector level, the data showed that 3 banks included in the ranking achieved financing portfolio growth rates exceeding the sector’s average compound annual growth rate of 36.4%, according to Central Bank of Egypt data. Meanwhile, 24 banks recorded growth rates below this average over the last 3 years.
As for foreign banks included in the ranking, they secured 4 spots among the 10 fastest-growing banks in financing over the last 3 years, out of 13 foreign banks covered by the ranking. These were: «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank», «Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait», «National Bank of Kuwait», and «Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank».
Islamic banks secured only one spot among the 10 fastest-growing banks in financing over the last 3 years, held by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank after ranking third.
State-owned banks strengthened their presence with the two largest state-owned banks securing spots among the top 10, as National Bank of Egypt ranked second on the list, while Banque Misr ranked tenth.
