HDB leads EGX-listed banks in credit card balance growth in H1 2026
Housing and Development Bank (HDB) topped the ranking of EGX-listed banks by credit card balance growth during H1 2026, recording a growth rate of 44.9 per cent, as its balances reached EGP 1.11 billion at end-June 2026, compared to EGP 765.35 million at end-2025, according to First Bank’s ranking. Suez Canal Bank ranked second, as its credit card balances grew by around 38.4 per cent during H1 2026, reaching EGP 280.56 billion at end-June 2026, compared to EGP 202.67 billion at end-2025. Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) ranked third, recording a growth rate of 25.2 per cent during H1 2026, as its credit card balances reached EGP 515.32 million at end-June 2026, compared to EGP 411.69 million at end-2025. Credit card balances at 11 EGX-listed banks grew during H1 2026, with all banks recording positive growth rates, according to First Bank’s ranking tracking the development of credit card balances. Housing and Development Bank, Suez Canal Bank and EGBANK retained their positions among the top five fastest-growing banks during H1 2026 and 2025. CIB accounted for 63.62 per cent of credit card balances at EGX-listed banks, as total credit card balances at listed banks reached EGP 32.61billion at end-June 2026, compared to EGP 28.64 billion at end-2025. It is worth noting that all figures and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are based on the standalone financial statements disclosed by each bank as of end-June 2026. HDB’s credit card team delivers strong performance, driving the bank to the top among EGX-listed banks for credit card balance growth in H1 2026.
