Islamic banks have limited presence, with just one among the top 10 out of four covered

Foreign banks stand out, securing six of the top 10 spots among 13 covered

Bank ABC topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in the Egyptian banking market by net interest income over the past three years, recording average growth of 171 per cent. Net interest income increased to EGP 5.03 billion in 2025, compared with EGP 613.78 million in 2022.

First Abu Dhabi Bank Misr (FABMISR) ranked second, with average growth of 92.32 per cent over the past three years, as net interest income rose to EGP 30.59 billion in 2025, compared with EGP 5.68 billion in 2020.

Housing and Development Bank (HDB) ranked third, with average growth of 79.93 per cent over the past three years, after its net interest income increased to EGP 27.59 billion in 2025, compared with EGP 4.91 billion in 2020.

The analysis covered 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which the necessary financial data were available, with all banks recording positive average growth over the past three years.

Among Islamic banks, only Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt secured a place in the top 10 fastest-growing banks by net profit over the past three years, ranking third.

Foreign banks also stood out, securing six places among the 10 fastest-growing banks by net interest income, out of 13 foreign banks covered by the analysis. These included Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB Egypt), National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt), Bank ABC, FABMISR and HSBC Bank Egypt.
