Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) retained first place in First Bank’s ranking of the best Egyptian Exchange (EGX)-listed banks by asset-to-deposit coverage ratio at end-June 2026. The bank had also led the 2025 ranking, reflecting its ability to meet its obligations to depositors.

EBank’s asset-to-deposit coverage ratio stood at 139.11 per cent, with total assets of EGP 223.45 billion and deposits of EGP 160.62 billion at end-June 2026.

Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt ranked second, with an asset-to-deposit coverage ratio of 130.30 per cent. Its total assets reached EGP 274.68 billion, while deposits stood at EGP 210.81 billion at end-June 2026. It was the only Islamic bank among the top five out of the three Islamic banks included in the ranking.

Commercial International Bank (CIB) ranked third, with a coverage ratio of 129.02 per cent at end-June 2026. The bank’s total assets reached EGP 1.68 trillion, while its deposit portfolio stood at EGP 1.30 trillion at the end of the same period.

The ranking, which covered all 12 banks listed on the EGX, showed that all recorded strong asset-to-deposit coverage ratios at end-June 2026.

The asset-to-deposit coverage ratio measures a bank’s ability to cover customer deposits using its asset base.

Banks are ranked according to the formula (assets/deposits) × 100. The higher the ratio, the greater the level of security the bank provides to depositors across different customer segments.

The ranking showed that the top eight banks exceeded the average asset-to-deposit coverage ratio of 125.22 per cent among EGX-listed banks at end-June 2026, reflecting stronger asset bases relative to deposits and a greater ability to support growth while maintaining comfortable liquidity levels.

The ranking also showed that three banks retained their positions among the top five compared with the end-2025 ranking: EBank, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt and EGBANK, although their positions within the top five changed.

EBank retained first place, while Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt advanced from fourth to second, and EGBANK slipped from second to fifth.

The remaining positions saw notable changes, with CIB and Suez Canal Bank entering the top five. CIB rose from sixth to third, while Suez Canal Bank advanced from seventh to fourth.

By contrast, Credit Agricole Egypt and The United Bank dropped out of the top five, with the former falling from third to eighth and the latter from fifth to sixth.

It is worth noting that all figures and asset-to-deposit coverage ratios mentioned in the analysis above are based on the standalone financial statements published by each bank for the period ended June 2026.
