The first half of 2026 reshaped the ranking of the fastest-growing banks by assets, with National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt) rising to first place, followed by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) and Emirates NBD Egypt, as all three recorded asset growth of more than 19 per cent over the six-month period.
NBK-Egypt recorded asset growth of 20.21 per cent, with total assets rising to EGP 270.30bn at end-June 2026 from EGP 224.86bn at end-2025, an increase of EGP 45.44bn in six months. The bank consequently climbed from 16th place in the ranking of the fastest-growing banks in 2025 to first in the first half of 2026.
This coincided with its advance from 13th place in the 2025 ranking by total assets to 12th in the June 2026 ranking, reflecting an improvement in the bank’s position by scale alongside its rise to the top of the asset-growth ranking in the first half of the year.
ADIB-Egypt ranked second among the fastest-growing banks by assets in the first half of 2026, recording growth of 19.67 per cent. Total assets increased to EGP 411.85bn at end-June 2026 from EGP 344.15bn at end-2025, an increase of EGP 67.70bn.
The bank retained eighth place in the ranking by total asset size while recording the largest absolute increase in assets among the three banks, meaning its balance sheet expanded during the period without a change in its position by asset size.
Emirates NBD Egypt ranked third among the fastest-growing banks by assets in the first half of 2026, with growth of 19.32 per cent.
The bank's total assets rose to EGP 247.63bn at end-June 2026 from EGP 207.53bn at end-2025, an increase of EGP 40.10bn, retaining 14th place in the ranking by total assets, with its asset base expanding during the period while its position remained unchanged.
The three banks show that strong asset growth did not translate into the same shift in market position.
NBK-Egypt’s expansion was enough to lift it in the ranking by total assets while also pushing it to the top of the fastest-growing banks. By contrast, ADIB-Egypt and Emirates NBD Egypt recorded sizeable increases in assets during the first half of 2026 but retained their existing positions in the ranking by total assets.
