ADIB-Egypt tops the ranking, climbing from fourth place in 2025

Islamic banks’ combined shareholders’ equity rises 11.3% to EGP 126bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 113.22bn at end-2025
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by shareholders’ equity in the first half of 2026, rising from fourth place in the 2025 ranking.
ADIB-Egypt's shareholders’ equity increased 26.1 per cent to EGP 42.45bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 33.65bn at end-2025.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) ranked second, with shareholders’ equity rising 17.6 per cent to EGP 25.81bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 21.96bn at end-2025.
Suez Canal Bank placed third, recording growth of 14.3 per cent in shareholders’ equity to EGP 23.16bn at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 20.27bn at end-2025.
First Bank’s ranking covered 24 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available. Of these, 18 recorded positive growth in shareholders’ equity during the first half of 2026, while six reported declines.
Combined shareholders’ equity across the 24 banks rose 4.8 per cent to approximately EGP 1.11tn at end-June 2026, from EGP 1.06tn at end-2025.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) retained its position as the largest private-sector bank by shareholders’ equity, with EGP 236.80bn at end-June 2026. Arab African International Bank (AAIB) ranked second, with EGP 149.84bn over the same period.
Islamic banks also recorded strong growth, with combined shareholders’ equity rising 11.3 per cent to approximately EGP 126bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 113.22bn at end-2025.
