CIB leads private-sector banks by customer deposits, driven by strong growth over the past three years
NBE topped FirstBank’s depositor confidence index over the past three years, supported by the largest increase in its customer deposits portfolio, which rose by around EGP 2.63 trillion over the period. This accounted for around 37 per cent of the total EGP 7.09 trillion increase in banking sector customer deposits.
Banque Misr ranked second, adding around EGP 1.31 trillion to its customer deposits portfolio over the past three years, accounting for around 18.5 per cent of the total increase in banking sector customer deposits during the period under review.
CIB ranked third, after its customer deposits portfolio increased by EGP 575.23 billion over the past three years to EGP 1.11 trillion at end-2025, compared with EGP 530.12 billion at end-2022, making it the largest private-sector bank by customer deposits.
FirstBank’s depositor confidence index tracked customer deposit portfolios at 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector. The data showed that all banks included in the ranking recorded increases in their customer deposits over the past three years.
The index results showed notable growth in total customer deposits among the banks covered by the analysis, reaching EGP 15.09 trillion at end-2025, compared with EGP 8 trillion at end-2022, an increase of EGP 7.09 trillion.
Islamic banks secured one spot among the top 10 banks on FirstBank’s depositor confidence index over the past three years, out of four Islamic banks included in the ranking: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB Egypt), Kuwait Finance House Bank – Egypt (KFH-Egypt), Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt and Al Baraka Bank Egypt. ADIB Egypt ranked seventh.
