The United Bank, ADCB Egypt lead direct corporate loan growth in H1 2026
The United Bank surges from 20th place in 2025 to top the ranking in just six months

The United Bank topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by direct corporate loans during the first half of 2026, surging from 20th place in the 2025 ranking.
The advance was driven by 36.69 per cent growth in its direct corporate loan portfolio during the first six months of the year, reaching EGP 20.81bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 15.22bn at end-2025.
The increase reflects an acceleration in the bank’s expansion into corporate and large-institution lending and a stronger presence in the segment.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank – Egypt (ADCB Egypt) ranked second, advancing from 16th place in the 2025 ranking. Its direct corporate loan portfolio grew 35.53 per cent during the period under review to EGP 45.69bn at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 33.71bn at end-2025.
Emirates NBD Egypt secured third place after advancing 18 positions from 21st in the 2025 ranking.
The bank’s direct corporate loan portfolio rose 34.12 per cent during the first half of 2026 to EGP 34.94bn at end-June, from EGP 26.05bn at end-2025.
First Bank’s ranking tracked direct corporate loan portfolios across 24 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available. Of these, 23 recorded positive growth during the first half of 2026, while one registered a decline.
The data showed that four banks retained their presence among the 10 fastest-growing banks by direct corporate loans in both the 2025 and H1 2026 rankings: ADIB-Egypt, Housing and Development Bank (HDB), Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) and BANK NXT.
Across the banking sector, combined direct corporate loans at the 24 banks rose 14.40 per cent during the first half of 2026 to EGP 1.42tn at end-June, from EGP 1.25tn at end-2025. Nineteen banks recorded growth above the sector average.
CIB, meanwhile, maintained its position as Egypt’s largest private-sector bank by direct corporate loans, with its portfolio exceeding EGP 312bn at end-June 2026, reinforcing its leadership in corporate lending.
