BANK NXT, CIB and Banque du Caire lead mortgage loan growth in H1 2026
BANK NXT tops the ranking after advancing from second place in 2025
Top 10 remains largely unchanged from end-2025 to end-June 2026, with EBank the only new entrant
Mortgage loans across 18 banks reaches EGP 78.08bn, up 10.6% in H1 2026
BANK NXT topped First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in Egypt by mortgage loans during the first half of 2026, after its portfolio rose approximately 27 per cent to EGP 3.92bn at end-June, from EGP 3.09bn at end-2025.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) ranked second, with its mortgage loan portfolio increasing around 17 per cent during the first half of the year to EGP 9.33bn at end-June 2026, from EGP 7.98bn at end-2025.
Banque du Caire secured third place after its mortgage loan portfolio grew approximately 15.4 per cent during H1 2026 to EGP 14.83bn at end-June, compared with EGP 12.85bn at end-2025.
First Bank’s ranking tracked mortgage loan portfolios across 18 banks operating in Egypt for which financial data were available. Of these, 12 recorded positive growth during the first half of 2026, while six reported declines over the same period.
Combined mortgage loans across the 18 banks reached approximately EGP 78.08bn at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 70.59bn at end-2025, representing growth of 10.6 per cent during the first half of the year.
The top 10 remained largely unchanged between end-2025 and H1 2026, with nine banks retaining their presence despite shifts in individual positions. EBank was the only new entrant.
BANK NXT moved to the top of the ranking at end-June 2026 from second place in 2025, while CIB climbed from sixth to second. Banque du Caire advanced one place to third.
By contrast, National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK-Egypt) slipped to fourth place after leading the ranking at end-2025. QNB Egypt retained fifth place, while Egyptian Gulf Bank (EGBANK) advanced from eighth to sixth. saib held seventh place.
The United Bank moved up from 10th to eighth, while Crédit Agricole Egypt retained ninth place. Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) entered the top 10 in 10th place, up from 12th at end-2025.
All figures and growth rates cited in this analysis are based on the standalone financial statements published by each bank at end-June 2026.
The figures for BANK NXT, CIB, Banque du Caire and the sector total are consistent with First Bank’s published ranking, while CIB’s EGP 9.33bn balance and 17.02 per cent growth are also confirmed in First Bank’s separate EGX-listed mortgage-loan ranking.
