saib, EBank, ADIB Egypt, and ABK – Egypt, are the fastest growing banks in shareholders' Equity
First Bank list of the fastest growing banks in total shareholders' Equity during the past year revealed that saib topped the list with a growth rate of 53.16%, after its total shareholders' Equity reached EGP 8.45 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 5.52 bn at the end of December 2022. December 2021.
First Bank list monitored shareholders' Equity of 20 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, for which data were available during the analysis period, 18 banks achieving positive growth rates in their total shareholders' Equity, while 2 banks recorded decline rates during 2022.
Export Development Bank of Egypt ranked second, with a growth rate of 44.42% over the past year, after its total shareholders' Equity recorded EGP9.66 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP6.69 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by ADIB Egypt with a growth rate of 33.42% during the same period.
ABK– Egypt came forth, after its total shareholders' Equity increased by a growth rate of 29.47% over the past year, to record EGP 6.21 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 4.80 bn at the end of December 2021.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt came in fifth place with a growth rate of 28.86% over the past year, after its total shareholders' Equity recorded EGP21.96 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP17.04 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by alBaraka Bank - Egypt in sixth place with a growth rate of 26.33%. during the same period.
Suez Canal Bank ranked seventh with a growth rate of 25%, after it succeeded in increasing its total shareholders' Equity to EGP 5.50 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 4.40 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by Banque du Caire with a growth rate of 16.88% during the same period last year.
QNB Al Ahli Bank ranked ninth, with a growth rate of 16.71% over the past year, after its total shareholders' Equity moved from EGP45.05 bn at the end of December 2021, to EGP 52.58 bn at the end of December 2022.
Ahli United Bank came in tenth place, with a growth rate of 15.98% over the past year, bringing its total shareholders' Equity to EGP 10.52 bn at the end of December 2022, compared to EGP 9.07 bn at the end of December 2021, followed by the Credit Agricole and HD banks, with growth rates of 14.49%. And 12.06% during the same period last year.
It should be noted that all the values and growth rates mentioned above, are according to separate financial statements announced for each bank at the end of December 2022.
