alBaraka bank, Ebank, and Suez Canal bank, Fastest-growing listed banks in Retail loans during Q1-2023
First bank
First Bank's list of the fastest-growing banks in Retail loans during the first quarter of this year revealed that alBaraka - Egypt topped the list with a growth rate of 19.53%. Its total portfolio jumped to EGP 5.2 bn by the end of March 2023, compared to EGP4.3 bn by the end of December 2022.
The list, which included 11 banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, showed that 9 banks achieved positive growth rates in their Retail loan portfolios during the first quarter of this year, while two banks recorded declines during the same period.
EBank occupied the second place with a growth rate of 16.56% during the first quarter of the current year. Its total Retail loans reached EGP5.3 bn by the end of March 2023, compared to EGP 4.5 bn by the end of December 2022.
Suez Canal Bank ranked third after its total Retail loan portfolio increased by 12.62% during the first quarter of this year, reaching EGP3.1 bn by the end of March 2023, compared to EGP2.8 bn by the end of December 2022.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt came in fourth place with a growth rate of 8.97% during the first 3 months of this year. Its total personal loan portfolio rose to EGP2.7 bn by end of March 2023, compared to EGP2.5 bn by the end of December 2022.
Qatar National Bank Al Ahli ranked fifth after its total personal loan portfolio increased by 4.13% during the first quarter of this year, reaching EGP47.1 bn by the end of March 2023, compared to EGP45.2 bn by the end of December 2022.
It is worth noting that all mentioned values and growth rates above are based on separate financial statements announced for each bank by end of March 2023.
