Ahli United Bank, NBK-Egypt, EBank, Top Banks in Loans-to-Deposit Ratio By March-2023end

According to the latest First Bank report ranking the best banks in Loans-to-Deposit Ratio (loans/deposits) by the end of March 2023, Ahli United Bank has secured the top spot with a rate of 73.05%. The bank recorded a total of EGP58.2 bn in customer loans while its deposit portfolio reached EGP79.7 bn by the end of March 2023.
First Bank list analyzed loans to deposit ratios among 22 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, based on their financial data for the analysis period. The report revealed that 21 banks achieved commendable deployment rates ranging from 38.99% to 73.05% by the end of the first quarter of the current year.
Among the banks analyzed, 14 banks surpassed the sector's average deployment rate of 48.9% by the end of March 2023. Notably, Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt stood out as it recorded the lowest loans to deposits ratio by the end of March last year.
Securing the second position on the list is National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt with a rate of 65.80%. The bank's loan portfolio reached EGP58.1 bn, while its deposit portfolio stood at EGP88.3 bn by the end of March 2023.
Taking the third spot is Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank) with a deposit deployment rate of 65.59%. The bank's customer loan portfolio reached EGP52.7 bn, and its deposit portfolio amounted to EGP80.3 bn by the end of March 2023.
Claiming the fourth place is Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt (ADIB) with 62.71%. The bank's deposit portfolio amounted to EGP101.7 bn, while its customer loan portfolio reached EGP 63.8 bn by the end of the first quarter of the current year.
AttijariWafa bank secured the fifth position on the list with a deposit deployment rate of 60.33%. The bank's customer loan portfolio amounted to EGP33.1 bn, and its deposit portfolio reached EGP1 bn by the end of March 2023.
NBD- Egypt ranked sixth with 58.99%. The bank's customer loans totaled EGP 52.3 bn, and its deposit portfolio amounted to EGP88.7 bn by the end of the previous March. Following closely, Arab African International Bank achieved a 55.95% by the end of the first quarter of 2023.
Qatar National Bank - Al Ahli (QNB) claimed the eighth position with a deposit deployment rate of 55.94%. The bank's customer loan portfolio surged to EGP247.9 bn, and its deposit portfolio increased to EGP443.1 bn by the end of March 2023.
Coming in ninth is saib with 54.93%. The bank's customer loan portfolio reached EGP45.8 bn, while its deposit portfolio amounted to EGP83.4 bn by the end of the same period.
Rounding off the top 10 is National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt with 53.65%. The bank's customer loan portfolio amounted to EGP 36.7 bn, while its deposit portfolio reached around EGP68.3 bn by the end of March 2023.
