Ahli United Bank, NBK Egypt, and E bank, top banks in Loans To Deposits Ratio (LDR)
First Bank list of the highest banks in terms of rate of Loans To Deposits Ratio-LDR (loans / deposits) in the Egyptian banking market during the past year, revealed that Ahli United Bank – Egypt topped the list, with an employment rate of 76.64%, after total loan portfolio reached EGP553.5 bn. While total deposit portfolio recorded 69.8 bn by the end of 2022.
The list monitored LDR at 22 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for whom financial statements were available for the analysis period, and revealed that 21 banks achieved good LDRs that ranged between 35.09%, 76.64% during 2022.
The list revealed that 13 of the banks under analysis exceeded the banking sector Average, which recorded 47.9% at the end of last December, as LDR reached about 11.77% by the end of 2022.
Returning to the list, National Bank of Kuwait - Egypt came in second place with an employment rate of 65.06%, after it granted loans to its customers worth EGP 55 bn at the end of December 2022, while total deposit portfolio reached EGP 84.5 bn at the end of the same period.
E Bank occupied third place, after its LDR reached 61.52%, as total loan portfolio recorded EGP44.8 bn, while its total deposit portfolio reached EGP 72.9 bn at the end of December 2022, followed by Attijariwafa bank with 61.28% during the same period.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt came in fifth place, after its LDR reached 61.06%, as the bank’s total loan portfolio EGP59.7 bn at the end of December 2022, while total deposits recorded EGP 97.7 bn at the end of the same period.
saib came sixth, with an employment rate of 57.35%, after its total loan portfolio recorded EGP 41.7 bn, while total deposit portfolio in the bank recorded EGP 72.7 bn at the end of December 2022, followed by Credit Agricole Bank with LDR of 56.87% at the end of last year.
QNB Al Ahli Bank came in eighth place, with LDR of 56.69%, as its total loan portfolio recorded EGP230.8 bn at the end of December 2022, while its total deposit portfolio reached EGP407.1 bn, followed by Emirates NBD and Alex bank with 54.45% and 53.85%, respectively, by the end of the same period.
It should be noted that all values and LDRs included above, are according to separate financial statements announced for each bank at the end of December 2022.
