EGBANK, HD Bank, NBK-Egypt, aiBANK, and CIB, Fastest-growing banks in direct loans during H1-2023
First Bank
According to First Bank list of fastest-growing banks in direct loans, EGBANK topped the list with a growth rate of 44.04% during the first half of this year, increasing its portfolio to EGP 12.23 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 8.495 bn by the end of December 2022.
The list revealed the total direct loans of 20 banks in the Egyptian banking sector, based on the financial data available for analysis during the period. It showed that 19 banks achieved positive growth rates in their direct loan portfolios, while one bank experienced a decline from January to June 2023.
HD Bank secured the second position, with a growth rate of 37.45% in their direct loan portfolio during the first half of this year, reaching a value of EGP8.416 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 6.123 bn by the end of December 2022.
NBK- Egypt came in third place, achieving a growth rate of 30.50% in its total direct loan portfolio during the first half of this year, reaching a value of EGP51.497 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP39.461 bn by the end of December 2022.
aiBANK ranked fourth with a growth rate of 21.26% in its direct loan portfolio during the first half of this year, reaching a value of EGP14.249 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 11.751 bn by the end of December 2022.
Commercial International Bank - Egypt "CIB" secured the fifth position, with its direct loan portfolio increasing by 21.07% during the first half of this year, reaching a value of EGP94.474 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 78.030 bn by the end of December 2022.
Emirates NBD- Egypt ranked sixth, achieving a growth rate of 20.61% in its direct loan portfolio during the first half of this year, reaching EGP13.968 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP11.581 bn by the end of December 2022.
Attijariwafa bank ranked seventh with a growth rate of 18.88% in its direct loan portfolio during the first half of this year, recording a value of EGP4.364 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 3.671 bn by the end of December 2022. It was followed by AAIB with a growth rate of 16.79% during the same period.
saib secured the ninth position, with its direct loan portfolio growing by 16.02% during the first half of this year, rising to EGP8.149 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP7.024 bn by the end of December 2022.
As for the tenth position, it was claimed by ABK - Egypt, with a growth rate of 14% during the first half of this year, reaching a value of EGP16.233 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP14.241 bn by the end of December 2022. It was followed by ADCB - Egypt with a growth rate of 13.41% during the same period.
It's worth noting that all the mentioned values and growth rates are based on separate financial statements announced by each bank at the end of June 2023.
