Ahli United Bank, ADCB Egypt, and saib, Fastest-growing banks in syndicated loans during H1-2023
First Bank
According to First Bank list of fastest-growing banks in syndicated loans, Ahli United Bank - Egypt topped the list with a growth rate of 37.39% in the first half of the current year, increasing its total portfolio to EGP9.028 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP6.571 bn by the end of December 2022.
The list revealed the total syndicated loans of 19 banks in the Egyptian banking sector, and 15 banks achieved positive growth rates in the syndicated loans, while 4 banks experienced a decline in their syndicated loan portfolios from January to June 2023.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank - Egypt (ADCB) secured the second position with a total syndicated loan portfolio growth rate of 21.50% during the first half of the current year, reaching EGP2.063 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 1.698 bn by the end of December 2022.
saib claimed the third position with a growth rate of 17.25% in the first half of the current year, reaching a total syndicated loan portfolio of EGP13.709 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to 11.692 bn by the end of December 2022.
Arab African International Bank came in fourth place with a growth rate of 15.25% during the first half of this year, after the bank’s total portfolio of syndicated loans rose to EGP 47.978 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP41.628 bn by the end of December 2022.
As for fifth place, Suez Canal Bank obtained it after achieving a growth rate of 13.71% in its syndicated loan portfolio during the first half of this year, to record EGP10.924 bn at the end of June 2023, compared to EGP9.607 bn at the end of December 2022.
EBank ranked sixth with a growth rate of 12.91% during the first half of the current year, recording a total syndicated loan portfolio of EGP 7.610 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP6.740 bn by the end of December 2022, followed by Banque du caire with a growth rate of 11.74% during the same period.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt secured the eighth position with a growth rate of 11.01% during the first half of the current year, with its syndicated loans increasing to EGP395.7 mn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP356.5 mn by the end of December 2022.
Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB) grabbed the ninth position with a growth rate of 9.40% during the first half of the current year, as its syndicated loan portfolio increased to EGP48.929 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 44.723 bn by the end of December 2022.
alBaraka Bank secured the tenth position with a growth rate of 7.97% during the first half of the current year, with its syndicated loan portfolio reaching EGP5.525 bn by the end of June 2023, compared to EGP 5.117 bn by the end of December 2022.
It is worth noting that all the mentioned values and growth rates in the above analysis are based on separate declared financial statements of each bank as of the end of June 2023.
