NBE, Banque Misr, QNB ALAHLI, and CIB, top banks in the market shares of loans in the banking sector
First Bank
First Bank list, for the largest Egyptian banks in the market shares of loan portfolio by the end of June 2023, revealed that National Bank of Egypt topped the list with a market share of 41.92% of total loans of the banking sector, with a value of EGP1.98 tn by the end of June 2023.
National Bank of Egypt’s acquisition of this large share of the loan market in the Egyptian banking sector indicates the continued growth of the benchmark bank and its continued leadership of the sector, as the bank succeeded in the first half of 2023 in increasing its loan portfolio by about EGP250 bn.
Returning to the list, Banque Misr won second place with a market share of 18.58% of the total loans of the banking sector by the end of June 2023, after its portfolio recorded EGP817.7 bn by the end of the same period.
QNB Al-Ahli Bank came third with a market share of 5.38% of the total loans of the banking sector by the end of June 2023, thus topping the private banks by about EGP254 bn by the end of the same period.
Commercial International Bank – Egypt ranked fourth with a market share of 5.33% of the total loans of the banking sector, with a portfolio value of EGP251.5 bn by the end of June 2023.
Banque du Caire came in fifth place with a market share of 3.23% of the total loans of the banking sector, with a value of EGP152.2 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by Arab African international Bank in sixth place with a market share of 3.21% by the end of the same period.

Total loans of the banking sector by the end of June 2023, with a value of EGP80.7 bn by the end of the same period.
As for the eighth place, Agricultural Bank of Egypt obtained it with a market share of 1.47% of the total loans of the banking sector, after its total portfolio reached about EGP69.4 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by the National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt with a market share of 1.44% by the end of the same period.
Abu Dhabi islamic Bank – Egypt came in tenth place with a market share of 1.38% of total loans of the banking sector, and a portfolio value exceeding EGP65 bn by the end of June 2023.
It is worth noting that all the values and market shares contained in the analysis above are according to separate financial statements announced by each bank at the end of the financial period ending in June 2023.
