NBE, Banque Misr and CIB, largest banks in market share of deposits in the banking sector
First Bank
First Bank list, of the largest banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector in terms of the size of market share of total deposits by the end of June 2023, revealed that National Bank of Egypt topped the list with a market share of 35.89% of the total deposits of the banking sector, with a value of EGP3.4 tn by the end of June 2023, followed by Bank of Egypt with a market share of 20.51% of the total deposits of the banking sector.
And Commercial International Bank – Egypt “CIB” ranked third with a market share of 6.93% of the total deposits of the banking sector, with a value of EGP656.4 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by QNB Al Ahli in fourth place with a market share of 4.87% of the total deposits of the banking sector, with a value of EGP461 bn by the end of the same period.
And Bannque du caire came fifth with a market share of 3.22% of the total deposits of the banking sector, with a value of EGP305.4 bn by the end of June 2023, followed by Arab African International Bank with a market share of 3% of the total deposits of the sector, with a portfolio size of EGP284 bn by the end of June previous.
As for the seventh place, First Abu Dhabi Bank – Egypt “FAB” obtained it after its market share of the total deposits of the sector reached about 2.05% by the end of June 2023, and a portfolio value of EGP194.5 bn by the end of the same period.
As for the eighth place, Agricultural Bank of Egypt obtained it with a market share of 1.70% of the total deposits of the banking sector by the end of June 2023, after the size of its deposit portfolio reached EGP161.5 bn by the end of the same period.
Alex Bank occupied the ninth place with a market share of 1.26% of the total deposits of the banking sector, followed by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt in the tenth place with a market share of 1.17% by the end of June 2023.
It is worth noting that all the values and market shares mentioned in the analysis above are according to separate financial statements announced by each bank at the end of the financial period ending in June 2023.
