Faisal Islamic Bank, the United Bank, and Credit Agricole top best listed banks in terms of leverage ratio by March 2025-End

 The «First Bank» list of top best banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange in terms of leverage ratio at the end of March 2025 revealed that Faisal Islamic Bank topped the list, after its leverage standard recorded 14.04% at the end of last March.

The list, which included all 12 banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, showed that 10 of them were able to achieve a leverage ratio exceeding the prevailing average in the banking sector of 7.6% by the end of March 2025, according to the latest statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, while all banks succeeded in Commitment to a leverage ratio of no less than 3%, on a quarterly basis, as a binding regulatory ratio as of 2018.

Leverage reflects the relationship between the first tranche of capital used in the capital adequacy standard (after eliminations) to cover the bank's assets (inside and outside the financial position) unweighted by weights.

The leverage ratio consists of the first tranche of capital after disposals divided by all assets inside and outside the financial position, not weighted by risk weights.Banks must disclose the leverage ratio and the components of the numerator and denominator in their financial statements.

Returning to the list, The United Bank captured second place, as its leverage ratio reached 13.29% at the end of March 2025.

Credit Agricole Bank - Egypt came in third place, with its leverage ratio reaching 10.99% by the end of March 2025.

Arab International Banking Company Bank «saib» dominated fourth place, after its leverage ratio recorded 10.63% at the end of last March.

Commercial International Bank ««CIB ranked fifth, with its leverage ratio reaching 10.60% by the end of March 2025.

It is worth noting that all the data mentioned in the above analysis are according to the independent financial statements announced for each bank at the end of March 2025
