According to First Bank’s ranking of the fastest-growing listed banks by leverage ratio in H1 2025, Faisal Islamic Bank led the list after its leverage ratio reached 13.60% during the period.

Leverage reflects the relationship between the first tranche of capital used in the capital adequacy criterion (after exclusions) to cover the bank's assets (inside and outside the financial position), not weighted by weights.

The leverage ratio consists of the first tranche of capital after exclusions divided by all assets inside and outside the financial position, not weighted by risk weights. Banks must disclose the leverage ratio, numerator components, and denominator in their financial statements.

The ranking, which included all banks listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange, showed that 10 of them were able to achieve a leverage ratio that exceeds the prevailing average in the banking sector, which is 7.6% by the end of March 2025, according to the latest statistical bulletin of the Central Bank of Egypt, while all banks succeeded in committing to a leverage ratio of no less than 3%, on a quarterly basis as a binding regulatory ratio starting in 2018.

The United Bank claimed second place with a ratio of 13.07% by June 2025-End.

CIB ranked third after its leverage ratio of 11.50% by the end of June 2025.

QNB came fourth with a leverage ratio 10.93 % by June 2025-End.
