CIB, SC Bank, and ADIB-Egypt lead Egypt’s private banks on First Bank’s Depositor Confidence Index during H1 2025
CIB topped the list of private banks on First Bank’s Depositor Confidence Index, with an increase of EGP 72.38 billion in customer deposits, while Suez Canal Bank ranked second with an increase of EGP 39.70 billion
ADIB–Egypt in third place, with a growth of EGP 33.32 billion, FABMISR and Alex Bank secured the fourth and fifth positions with increases of EGP 29.69 billion and EGP 22.56 billion, respectively.
saib, QNB-Egypt, and Emirates NBD-Egypt were also among the top ten private banks, achieving increases of EGP 21.74 billion, EGP 19.84 billion, and EGP 19.42 billion, respectively.
The First Bank Depositor Confidence Index for Egypt’s private banks during the first half of 2025 revealed that Commercial International Bank «CIB» ranked first, supported by a EGP 72.38 billion increase in customer deposits during H1 2025, bringing the total to EGP 1.04 trillion by the end of June, compared to EGP 967.90 billion at the end of 2024.
The Depositor Confidence Index, launched by First Bank, measures savers’ trust and tendency to place deposits and certificates in Egyptian banks over a specific period. The index is based on the absolute increase in customer deposits, with the bank achieving the largest growth in new deposits between December 2024 and June 2025 ranking first.
The index monitored changes in customer deposit portfolios at 21 private banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector. Results showed that 19 banks achieved increases in total customer deposits, while two banks saw declines during H1 2025, according to the independently published financial statements of each bank.
It is worth noting that private banks are defined as those in which private ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector.
Returning to the list, Suez Canal Bank «SC Bank» ranked second, with customer deposits rising by EGP 39.70 billion, reaching EGP 175.17 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 135.47 billion at the end of 2024.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB–Egypt» ranked third, with an increase of EGP 33.32 billion in customer deposits during the first six months of 2025, reaching EGP 233.60 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 200.28 billion at the end of 2024.
First Abu Dhabi Bank-Egypt «FABMISR» came fourth, as its customer deposit portfolio grew by EGP 29.69 billion during H1 2025, reaching EGP 288.48 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 258.79 billion at the end of 2024.
Bank of Alexandria «Alex Bank» ranked fifth, after customer deposits increased by EGP 22.56 billion during the first half of 2025, bringing the total to EGP 190.59 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 168.04 billion at the end of 2024.
saib claimed the sixth position, recording a EGP 21.74 billion increase in total customer deposits during H1 2025, reaching EGP 139.20 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 117.45 billion at the end of 2024.
Qatar National Bank-Egypt «QNB-Egypt» ranked seventh, with customer deposits growing by EGP 19.84 billion, reaching EGP 701.71 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 681.86 billion at the end of 2024.
Emirates NBD–Egypt came eighth, as its customer deposits rose by EGP 19.42 billion during the first half of 2025, totaling EGP 147.61 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 128.18 billion at the end of 2024.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «ABK-Egypt» ranked ninth, with customer deposits increasing by EGP 19.21 billion during the first six months of the year, reaching EGP 139.09 billion by the end of June 2025, compared to EGP 119.89 billion at the end of 2024.
Finally, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank-Egypt «ADCB–Egypt» came in tenth, with an increase of EGP 16.35 billion in customer deposits during H1 2025, bringing the total to EGP 132.85 billion by the end of June, compared to EGP 116.50 billion at the end of 2024.
