Al Baraka holds third place at 63.23%… while CIB and HSBC-Egypt secure the fourth and fifth positions with concentration ratios of 57.16% and 54.93%, respectively
NBK-Egypt, ADIB-Egypt, and AAIB are among the top 10 private-sector banks concentrated in retail deposits at 50.15%, 46.11%, and 43.85%, respectively
The First Bank list of private-sector banks most concentrated in retail deposits as of the end of June 2025 revealed that Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt topped the ranking, with retail deposits accounting for 97.32% of its total customer deposits. Retail deposits recorded EGP 183.18 billion, while total customer deposits reached EGP 188.23 billion as of the end of June 2025.
The list tracks deposit composition trends across 21 private-sector banks operating in the Egyptian banking market, for which the necessary financial statements were available for the analysis period, specifically examining the degree of diversification in certificates and products offered to attract more customers. The list is based on the ratio (Retail Deposits / Total Deposits), providing an indicator of how concentrated a bank’s deposit base is in retail deposits, according to the published standalone financial statements of each bank.
It is worth noting that private-sector banks are those in which total private ownership exceeds 50%, according to data from Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector.
Returning to the list, Bank of Alexandria «Alex Bank» secured second place, with retail deposits representing 69.40% of its total deposit portfolio, which amounted to EGP 190.59 billion as of the end of June 2025, while retail deposits reached EGP 132.26 billion during the same period.
Al Baraka Bank ranked third, with retail deposits accounting for 63.23% of its total customer deposits, which stood at EGP 114.78 billion as of the end of June 2025, while its retail deposit portfolio amounted to EGP 72.57 billion during the same period.
Commercial International Bank-Egypt «CIB» came in fourth, with its retail deposit portfolio accounting for 57.16%, valued at EGP 594.61 billion, out of its total deposit base of EGP 1.04 trillion as of the end of June 2025.
HSBC-Egypt ranked fifth, with a concentration ratio of 54.93%, as its total deposits reached EGP 221.58 billion, while its retail deposits amounted to EGP 121.72 billion as of the end of June 2025.
National Bank of Kuwait-Egypt «NBK-Egypt» secured sixth place, with retail deposits representing 50.15%, valued at EGP 83.33 billion, out of its total deposit base of EGP 166.17 billion as of the end of June 2025.
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» ranked seventh, with a concentration ratio of 46.11%, as retail deposits reached EGP 107.71 billion as of the end of June 2025, while total customer deposits amounted to EGP 233.60 billion during the same period.
The Arab African International Bank «AAIB» came eighth, with a concentration ratio of 43.85%, as its retail deposit portfolio recorded EGP 291.7 billion, while total customer deposits reached EGP 665.88 billion as of the end of June 2025.
Emirates NBD-Egypt ranked ninth, with retail deposits accounting for 42.66% of its customer deposit base, which recorded EGP 147.61 billion as of the end of June 2025, while retail deposits amounted to EGP 62.97 billion during the same period.
As for the tenth place, it was secured by Qatar National Bank-Egypt «QNB-Egypt», with retail deposits representing 37.97% of its total deposit portfolio of EGP 701.71 billion, while its retail deposits reached EGP 266.43 billion as of the end of June 2025.
