NBE, BM, and CIB are the largest recipients of household sector deposits in Egypt
NBE claims the top position and captures 42.09% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 and BM ranks second with a market share of 22.19%
CIB secures the third position with a market share of 6.70% and AAIB and QNB-Egypt hold the fourth and fifth positions with market shares of 3.29% and 3% respectively
The First Bank list of the largest Egyptian banks receiving household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt «NBE» topped the list with a market share of 42.09% of total household sector deposits in the Egyptian banking sector where the bank’s retail deposits portfolio reached EGP 3.73 trillion as of end-June 2025.
The First Bank list of the largest banks receiving household sector deposits monitored the total retail deposit portfolios at 27 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available as of end-June 2025.
Returning to the list Banque Misr «BM» secured the second position with a market share of 22.19% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 where its retail deposit portfolio amounted to EGP 1.97 trillion as of the same period.
Commercial International Bank «CIB» secured the third position in the list with a market share of 6.70% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 after its retail deposits portfolio recorded EGP 594.61 billion as of the same period.
Arab African International Bank «AAIB» ranked fourth with a market share of 3.29% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 after its retail deposits portfolio increased to EGP 291.97 billion as of the same period.
Qatar National Bank-Egypt «QNB-Egypt» ranked fifth with a market share of 3% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 where its total retail deposits portfolio reached approximately EGP 266.43 billion as of the same period.
Banque du Caire «BDC» obtained the sixth position with a market share of 2.49% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 where its retail deposits portfolio amounted to EGP 221.26 billion as of the same period.
Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt held the seventh position with a market share of 2.06% of total household sector deposits as of the second quarter of 2025 after its retail deposits portfolio recorded EGP 183.18 billion as of the same period.
Bank of Alexandria «Alex Bank» ranked eighth with a market share of 1.49% of total household sector deposits as of end-June 2025 where its retail deposits portfolio amounted to EGP 132.26 billion as of the same period.
HSBC-Egypt ranked ninth with a market share of 1.37% of total household sector deposits as of the second quarter of 2025 after its retail deposits portfolio recorded EGP 121.72 billion as of the same period.
As for the tenth position it went to Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank-Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» with a market share of 1.21% as of end-June 2025 where its retail deposits portfolio amounted to EGP 107.71 billion as of the same period.
It is worth noting that all values and market shares mentioned in the above analysis are according to the standalone financial statements announced by each bank as of the financial period ending June 2025.
