EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.538 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, as the index fell to 39.538 points by the end of the session, compared with 39.674 points at the close of trading on Monday.

The decline in the pound index was driven by its depreciation against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Japanese yen, Chinese yuan, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal at the close of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.51 to EGP 47.58, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.41 to EGP 47.48 by the end of the session.

The average selling price of the euro climbed from EGP 55.78 to EGP 56.14, and the average buying price rose from EGP 55.66 to EGP 56.02 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the British pound increased from EGP 63.85 to EGP 64.29, while the average buying price advanced from EGP 63.69 to EGP 64.13 by the end of the session.

Similarly, the average selling price of the Japanese yen rose from EGP 30.18 to EGP 30.51, and the average buying price increased from EGP 30.12 to EGP 30.44 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan edged up from EGP 6.75 to EGP 6.77, while the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 6.73 to EGP 6.75 by the end of the session.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham increased from EGP 12.93 to EGP 12.95, and the average buying price climbed from EGP 12.90 to EGP 12.92 at the close of trading.

The average selling price of the Saudi riyal also rose from EGP 12.67 to EGP 12.68, while the average buying price increased from EGP 12.64 to EGP 12.65 by the end of today’s trading session.
