EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.493 points at today's trading

The Egyptian pound index recorded a decline against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, as the index fell to 39.493 points at the end of today’s session, compared to 39.538 points at the close of trading on Tuesday.

The decline in the Egyptian pound index was driven by its depreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the British pound, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.58 to EGP 47.63 by the close of today’s session, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.48 to EGP 47.53.

The average selling price of the euro also increased from EGP 56.14 to EGP 56.15 by the close of trading, while the average buying price edged up from EGP 56.02 to EGP 56.03.

Likewise, the average selling price of the British pound rose from EGP 64.29 to EGP 64.35 by the end of today’s session, and the average buying price increased from EGP 64.13 to EGP 64.17.

The average selling price of the Japanese yen increased from EGP 30.51 to EGP 30.54 at the close of trading, while the average buying price rose from EGP 30.44 to EGP 30.47.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan climbed from EGP 6.77 to EGP 6.79 by the close of today’s trading, while the average buying price in Egypt increased from EGP 6.75 to EGP 6.77.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham rose from EGP 12.95 to EGP 12.97 at the close of trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 12.92 to EGP 12.94.

In addition, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal increased from EGP 12.68 to EGP 12.70 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price rose from EGP 12.65 to EGP 12.67.
