EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.476 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Thursday, December 25, 2025, with the index falling to 39.476 points at the end of the session, compared to 39.493 points at the close of trading on Wednesday.

The decline in the Egyptian Pound Index was driven by its depreciation against the US dollar, euro, British pound, Japanese yen, and Chinese yuan, while it remained stable against the UAE dirham and the Saudi riyal at the close of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.63 to EGP 47.64 by the end of today’s trading, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.53 to EGP 47.54.

The average selling price of the euro increased from EGP 56.15 to EGP 56.16 by the close of trading, while the average buying price declined slightly from EGP 56.03 to EGP 56.02.

The average selling price of the British pound rose from EGP 64.35 to EGP 64.43 by the end of the session, and the average buying price increased from EGP 64.17 to EGP 64.29.

Meanwhile, the average selling price of the Japanese yen increased from EGP 30.54 to EGP 30.57, while the average buying price rose from EGP 30.47 to EGP 30.50 by the close of trading.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan increased from EGP 6.79 to EGP 6.80, while the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 6.77 to EGP 6.78.

In contrast, the average selling price of the UAE dirham remained stable at EGP 12.97, while the average buying price also remained unchanged at EGP 12.94 by the close of today’s trading.

Similarly, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal remained unchanged at EGP 12.70, while the average buying price stabilized at EGP 12.67 at the end of the session.
