EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.459 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Sunday, December 28, 2025, falling to 39.459 points, compared with 39.476 points at the close of last Thursday’s session.

The decline in the pound index came as a result of its depreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, while it strengthened against the British pound sterling and the Japanese yen, and remained stable against the Chinese yuan at the close of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the US dollar rose from EGP 47.64 to EGP 47.70 by the end of today’s session, while the average buying price increased from EGP 47.54 to EGP 47.60.

The average selling price of the euro edged up from EGP 56.16 to EGP 56.17, while the average buying price rose from EGP 56.02 to EGP 56.03 by the close of trading.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham increased from EGP 12.97 to EGP 12.98, while the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 12.94 to EGP 12.96.

Similarly, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal climbed from EGP 12.70 to EGP 12.72, while the average buying price rose from EGP 12.67 to EGP 12.69 by the end of the session.

In contrast, the average selling price of the British pound sterling declined slightly from EGP 64.43 to EGP 64.42, while the average buying price fell from EGP 64.29 to EGP 64.24.

The average selling price of the Japanese yen decreased from EGP 30.57 to EGP 30.47, while the average buying price declined from EGP 30.50 to EGP 30.40 by the close of trading.

Meanwhile, the average selling price of the Chinese yuan remained unchanged at EGP 6.80, while the average buying price rose slightly from EGP 6.78 to EGP 6.79 at the end of today’s session.
