The «First Bank» list of the fastest growing banks in syndicated loans over the last 3 years revealed that Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt «ADIB-Egypt» topped the list, with its syndicated loan portfolio growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 79.4%. By the end of 2024, its portfolio is expected to reach EGP 1.46 billion, compared to EGP 253 million at the end of 2021.

Bank NXT took second place, with its syndicated loan portfolio growing by 55.5% over the last 3 years, reaching EGP 5.78 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 1.54 billion at the end of 2021.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank - Egypt «ADCB» secured third place, with its syndicated loan portfolio growing by 53.5% over the last 3 years, reaching EGP 6.40 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 1.77 billion at the end of 2021.

The ranking includes 24 banks operating in Egypt’s banking sector, for which financial data over the last 3 years was available. Notably, ABC Bank and FABMISR achieved growth rates of 60.4% and 59.8%, respectively, due to acquisitions, and were excluded from the ranking for accurate comparison.

The ranking clearly shows the dominance of the private sector, with private banks accounting for 80% of the top 10 fastest growing banks in syndicated loans over the past 3 years. These banks include: ADIB-Egypt, Bank NXT, ADCB, Arab International Bank, Al Baraka, Al Ahli Kuwaiti Bank - Egypt, saib, and Arab African International Bank.

On the other hand, public banks only secured two spots in the top 10 list of fastest growing banks in syndicated loans over the last 3 years. Housing and Development Bank ranked fourth, while Banque Misr ranked eighth.

Regarding the Arab banking groups operating in Egypt, they claimed 4 seats in the top 10 fastest growing banks list: ADIB-Egypt, ADCB, Al Baraka, and Al Ahli Kuwaiti Bank - Egypt.

Furthermore, Banque Misr had the highest increase in its syndicated loan portfolio during the monitored period, with an increase of EGP 215.63 billion over the last 3 years, reaching EGP 383.21 billion by the end of 2024, compared to EGP 167.57 billion at the end of 2021.

Regarding Islamic banks, two banks secured spots in the top 10 fastest growing list: ADIB-Egypt in first place and Al Baraka in sixth.
