EGP index decreased against a basket of major currencies to 39.421 points at today's trading

The Egyptian Pound Index declined against major currencies at the close of trading on Monday, December 29, 2025, falling to 39.421 points, compared with 39.459 points at the close of trading on Sunday.

The decline in the pound index came as a result of its depreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the Japanese yen, the Chinese yuan, the UAE dirham, and the Saudi riyal, while it rose against the British pound by the end of today’s trading session.

The average selling price of the US dollar increased from EGP 47.70 to EGP 47.76 at the close of trading, while the average buying price rose from EGP 47.60 to EGP 47.66.

The average selling price of the euro edged up from EGP 56.17 to EGP 56.18, while the average buying price increased from EGP 56.03 to EGP 56.05 by the end of today’s trading.

The average selling price of the Japanese yen rose from EGP 30.47 to EGP 30.55, and the average buying price increased from EGP 30.40 to EGP 30.48 by the close of trading.

The average selling price of the Chinese yuan increased from EGP 6.80 to EGP 6.81, while the average buying price in Egypt rose from EGP 6.79 to EGP 6.80 by the end of trading.

The average selling price of the UAE dirham climbed from EGP 12.98 to EGP 13.00, while the average buying price increased from EGP 12.96 to EGP 12.97.

The average selling price of the Saudi riyal rose from EGP 12.72 to EGP 12.73, and the average buying price increased from EGP 12.69 to EGP 12.70 by the close of trading.

Meanwhile, the average selling price of the British pound declined slightly from EGP 64.42 to EGP 64.41, while the average buying price edged up from EGP 64.24 to EGP 64.25 at the end of today’s trading session.
