One Spot for Islamic Banks in the List of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Private Sector Banks
The «First Bank» list of the fastest growing private sector banks operating in Egypt in terms of corporate financing during the first 9 months of 2025 revealed that Suez Canal Bank topped the list with a growth rate of 35.3% during the first 9 months of 2025. The corporate financing portfolio reached EGP 99.70 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 73.67 billion by the end of 2024.
BANK NXT ranked second with a growth rate of 32.8% during the first 9 months of this year, with its corporate financing portfolio reaching EGP 29.46 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 22.19 billion by the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt came in third place with a growth rate of 32.6% during the first 9 months of 2025, with its individual deposit portfolio reaching EGP 99.59 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 75.08 billion by the end of 2024.
The ranking also showed the continued dominance of Commercial International Bank (CIB) as the largest private sector bank in terms of portfolio increase and the highest in portfolio value, with corporate financing reaching EGP 402.11 billion by the end of September 2025, compared to EGP 310.20 billion by the end of 2024, a growth rate of 29.6% and an increase in value of EGP 91.91 billion.
The «First Bank» list also recorded the total corporate financing portfolio of 20 private sector banks operating in Egypt, for which financial data was available for the first 9 months of 2025. It revealed that 19 banks achieved positive growth rates, while one bank experienced a decline, according to the independent financial statements released by each bank.
It is worth noting that private sector banks are those in which the private sector owns more than 50% of the capital, according to data from the Egyptian Ministry of Public Business Sector.
The data also showed strong performance from Gulf groups operating in Egypt, which dominated 6 of the top 10 spots for the fastest growing private sector banks in corporate financing during the first 9 months of 2025. These banks are: Abu Dhabi Islamic, Abu Dhabi Commercial, Kuwait National, Qatar National, Abu Dhabi First, andEmirates NBD. Other banks were absent from the top 10 positions.
In terms of Islamic banks, only one made it into the list of the top 10 fastest growing private sector banks in corporate financing during the first 9 months of 2025. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank - Egypt ranked third with a growth rate of 32.6%
