Egypt’s banking sector performance on EGX at Thuresday closing

The banking sector on the Egyptian Exchange closed trading on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with an increase in the sector’s market capitalization by 2.08%, reaching EGP 734.100 billion at the close of today’s session, compared with EGP 719.12 billion at the close of yesterday’s Wednesday session.

The banking sector’s market capitalization represented 25.55% of the total market capitalization today, which is the highest ratio among all sectors listed on the exchange.

Trading value on banking sector shares reached EGP 1.42 billion, accounting for 29.82% of the total trading value on the exchange today. A total of 25.05 million shares were traded in the sector, representing 1.86% of the total trading volume of the exchange today.

The Egyptian Exchange closed today’s session with the main index, EGX30, rising, while the EGX70 and EGX100 indices declined, amid a trend of foreign investors toward net buying of EGP 258.8 million.

The main index, EGX30, rose by 0.67% to reach 44.143 points, while the EGX70 index fell by 1.62% to record 12.473 points, and the EGX100 index declined by 1.28% to record 16.768 points.
