«National Bank of Egypt», Banque Misr, and «CIB» are the largest deposit-receiving banks in Egypt by the end of September 2025

«National Bank of Egypt» tops the sector, followed by Banque Misr in second place.

Private sector banks secure 6 spots among the top 10, compared to 4 positions for public sector banks.

Banks listed on the stock exchange hold 3 spots among the top 10 banks by deposit market share.

Foreign banking groups capture 4 positions among the top 10 banks.

Islamic banks secure a single spot among the top ten.

The «First Bank» list of the largest banks by deposit market share by the end of September 2025 revealed that the National Bank of Egypt topped the ranking, controlling more than one-third of the banking sector’s deposits, with a market share of 36.73%, as its deposit portfolio reached about EGP 5.63 tn.

Banque Misr ranked second, with a market share of 18.91% of total banking sector deposits, recording a deposit portfolio of about EGP 2.9 tn by the end of September 2025.

The Commercial International Bank – Egypt («CIB») secured third place, with a market share of 6.81% of total banking sector deposits, as its deposits reached about EGP 1.04 tn by the end of last September.

The «First Bank» list of the largest banks by deposit market share monitored the total deposit portfolios of 29 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data were available by the end of September 2025.

The list also revealed that the private sector captured the largest share of the top 10 banks receiving deposits in Egypt, with private banks securing 6 positions among the top ten, including: «CIB», «Arab African International Bank», «QNB – Egypt», «FABMISR», «ADIB», and «HSBC».

Public sector banks, on the other hand, secured 4 positions among the top 10 banks receiving deposits in Egypt, namely: National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, Banque du Caire, and the Agricultural Bank of Egypt.

Foreign banking groups operating in the Egyptian banking sector also captured 4 positions among the top ten, including: «QNB – Egypt», «FABMISR», «ADIB», and «HSBC».

As for banks listed on the Egyptian Exchange, they secured 3 positions among the top ten, namely: «CIB», «QNB – Egypt», and «ADIB».

Meanwhile, Islamic banks captured a single position among the top ten, as Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt («ADIB») ranked eighth, with a market share of 1.72% of total banking sector deposits.
