EGP index rose against a basket of major currencies to 35.582 points at today's trading
The Egyptian pound strengthened against major currencies at the close of trading on Wednesday, May 6, reaching 35.582 points, compared to 35.018 points at the close of trading on Tuesday.
The pound's rise was driven by its appreciation against the US dollar, the euro, the Chinese yuan, the British pound, the UAE dirham, the Saudi riyal, and the Japanese yen.
The average selling price of the US dollar fell from EGP 53.77 to EGP 52.75 at the close of trading, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 53.67 to EGP 52.65.
Similarly, the average selling price of the euro declined from EGP 62.83 to EGP 62.17, and the average buying price dropped from EGP 62.70 to EGP 62.04. The average selling price of the British pound fell from 72.78 Egyptian pounds to 71.91 Egyptian pounds at the close of trading today, while the average buying price declined from 72.63 Egyptian pounds to 71.75 Egyptian pounds.
The average selling price of the Chinese yuan also decreased, from 7.87 Egyptian pounds to 7.74 Egyptian pounds at the close of trading today, and the average buying price fell from 7.86 Egyptian pounds to 7.73 Egyptian pounds.
The average selling price of the Japanese yen dropped from 34.09 Egyptian pounds to 33.84 Egyptian pounds at the close of trading today, and the average buying price decreased from 34.01 Egyptian pounds to 33.77 Egyptian pounds.
The average selling price of the UAE dirham fell from EGP 14.64 to EGP 14.36 at the close of trading today, while the average buying price decreased from EGP 14.61 to EGP 14.33.
Similarly, the average selling price of the Saudi riyal declined from EGP 14.33 to EGP 14.06 at the close of trading today, and the average buying price dropped from EGP 14.30 to EGP 14.03.
