«United Bank», «Emirates NBD», and «ADIB» ranked as the fastest-growing banks in financing portfolios after neutralizing the impact of exchange rate movements during Q1 2026
The «First Bank» ranking of the fastest-growing banks in financing portfolios after adjusting for exchange rate effects during Q1 2026 revealed that «United Bank» topped the list, achieving an FX-adjusted growth rate of 14.7% during the first three months of 2026, with its financing portfolio reaching EGP 45.14 billion by the end of March 2026. «Emirates NBD – Egypt» ranked second, recording an FX-adjusted growth rate of 12.6% during the first three months of 2026, with its loan portfolio reaching EGP 109.53 billion by the end of March 2026. «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt» secured third place, achieving an FX-adjusted growth rate of 12.5% during the first three months of 2026, with its financing portfolio reaching EGP 178.66 billion by the end of March 2026. The ranking highlights the actual growth achieved by financing portfolios of banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector during the first three months of 2026. It is worth noting that the «First Bank» ranking of the fastest-growing banks in financing portfolios after adjusting for exchange rate effects included 23 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which the required financial data was available. The ranking showed that 8 banks maintained their positions among the top 10 fastest-growing banks before and after neutralizing the impact of exchange rates during Q1 2026. These banks are: «United Bank», «Emirates NBD», «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank», «BANK NXT», Suez Canal Bank, «National Bank of Kuwait», «Commercial International Bank (CIB)», and «EBank». Islamic banks secured only one position among the top 10 fastest-growing banks in financing portfolios after adjusting for exchange rate effects, with «Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank» ranking third. At the level of foreign banking groups operating in Egypt, they secured four positions among the top 10 fastest-growing banks, including «Emirates NBD», «ADIB», «National Bank of Kuwait», and «ABC». On the other hand, the average growth rate of financing portfolios across the 23 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector, after adjusting for exchange rate effects, reached 4.1% during Q1 2026, with only 11 banks exceeding this average.
