EGX bank stocks broadly decline on Wednesday, two ending higher
The Egyptian Exchange’s trading session data revealed negative performance for the majority of listed bank stocks, with only two stocks posting gains by the end of trading, while 10 stocks declined.
Al Baraka Bank led the gainers, rising 3.25 per cent to close at EGP 24.49, compared to EGP 23.72 at the start of trading. The Egyptian Gulf Bank came in second, gaining 1.92 per cent to close at USD 0.53, compared to USD 0.52 at the beginning of the session.
On the decliners’ side, Faisal Islamic Bank’s dollar-denominated shares fell 0.10 per cent to close at USD 0.990, compared to an opening price of USD 0.991. Suez Canal Bank also declined 0.26 per cent to close at EGP 42.25, compared to an opening price of EGP 42.36.
Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBE) recorded a 0.90 per cent decline to close at EGP 20.96, compared to EGP 21.15 at the start of the session, followed by Commercial International Bank (CIB), which fell 1.81 per cent to close at EGP 136, compared to EGP 138.5 at the opening.
The United Bank also declined 1.89 per cent to close at EGP 14.50, compared to an opening price of EGP 14.78, while Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt fell 2.04 per cent to close at EGP 53.86, compared to EGP 54.98 at the opening.
Crédit Agricole Egypt rose 2.5 per cent to close at EGP 25.14, compared to EGP 24.51 at the opening, while Housing and Development Bank (HDB) declined 3.40 per cent to close at EGP 89.50, compared to an opening price of EGP 92.65.
QNB Egypt fell 4.61 per cent to close at EGP 59.57, compared to an opening price of EGP 62.45, followed by Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt’s EGP-denominated shares, which declined 6.02 per cent to close at EGP 40, compared to EGP 42.56 at the opening.
