First Bank
The first-half 2026 results showed strong growth in credit card balances at several Egyptian banks, with their credit card teams driving their banks to the top of FirstBank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks by credit card balances in H1 2026.
Housing and Development Bank topped the ranking, with its credit card balances rising 44.9 per cent half-on-half to EGP 1.11 billion at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 765.35 million at end-2025.
Suez Canal Bank ranked second, with its credit card balances increasing 38.4 per cent half-on-half to EGP 280.56 million at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 202.67 million at end-2025.
Kuwait Finance House Bank – Egypt (KFH-Egypt) ranked third, with its credit card balances rising 31.7 per cent in H1 2026 to EGP 370.48 million at end-June, compared with EGP 281.20 million at end-2025.
FirstBank’s ranking tracked credit card balances at 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available. The results showed that 24 banks recorded positive growth, while one bank posted a notable decline during H1 2026.
Total credit card balances at the 25 banks reached EGP 57.67 billion at end-June 2026, compared with EGP 51.79 billion at end-2025, representing half-on-half growth of 11.3 per cent.
Among the top 10, the comparison between the June 2026 and 2025 rankings showed significant changes in the positions. Seven banks remained among the top 10 in both rankings, despite changes in their respective positions, while new banks entered the list and others dropped out.
Housing and Development Bank retained the top spot among the fastest-growing banks by credit card balances, while Suez Canal Bank moved up one place to second. KFH-Egypt jumped five places from eighth at end-2025 to third at end-June 2026.
