Suez Canal Bank, BANK NXT and ABK-Egypt post fastest growth in net interest income in H1 2026
Suez Canal Bank tops the fastest-growing banks in net interest income in H1 2026, rising from third place in the same period of 2025
Islamic banks maintain strong presence, with three ranking among the 10 fastest-growing banks out of four included in the analysis
Net interest income at 25 banks reaches EGP 272.3bn, up 14.9% in H1 2026
Suez Canal Bank topped FirstBank’s ranking of the fastest-growing banks operating in the Egyptian banking market by net interest income in H1 2026, with growth of 47.42 per cent.
The bank’s net interest income rose to about EGP 5.70bn in H1 2026, compared with about EGP 3.87bn in the same period of 2025, an increase of about EGP 1.83bn.
BANK NXT ranked second, with net interest income increasing 35.4 per cent to about EGP 3.11bn in H1 2026, compared with about EGP 2.30bn in the same period of 2025.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) ranked third, with growth of 34.8 per cent, as net interest income rose to about EGP 5.14bn in H1 2026, compared with about EGP 3.81bn in the same period of 2025.
FirstBank’s analysis tracked the development of net interest income at 25 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial data was available. The data showed that 23 banks recorded positive growth in net interest income during H1 2026, while only two banks posted declines.
The banks covered by the analysis recorded total net interest income of about EGP 272.3bn in H1 2026, compared with about EGP 237.08bn in H1 2025, representing growth of about 14.9 per cent.
Islamic banks also maintained a strong presence among the fastest-growing banks, with three of the four Islamic banks included in the analysis securing places among the top 10. Faisal Islamic Bank ranked fourth, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB Egypt) ranked fifth, while Kuwait Finance House Bank – Egypt (KFH-Egypt) ranked ninth.
The rankings saw notable changes in H1 2026 compared with H1 2025. BANK NXT recorded the biggest improvement, rising from 13th to second place, while Suez Canal Bank moved up from third to first. Faisal Islamic Bank also advanced from 10th to fourth.
