AlexBank, Attijariwafa and HDB record fastest growth in syndicated financing during H1 2026

An exceptional rise by AlexBank saw the bank top the ranking of syndicated financing growth during the first half of 2026, moving up from last place in the FY 2025 ranking, according to First Bank’s ranking tracking the development of syndicated financing portfolios at banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector.
The bank’s rise was driven by a 114.7 per cent increase in its syndicated loan portfolio on a semi-annual basis, reaching EGP 1.08bn at the end of June 2026, compared with EGP 503mn at the end of 2025.
Attijariwafa Bank Egypt ranked second, after its syndicated loan portfolio surged 101.6 per cent during the first six months of 2026, reaching EGP 2.81bn at the end of June 2026, compared with EGP 1.39bn at the end of 2025.
Housing and Development Bank ranked third, following a 54.6 per cent semi-annual increase in its syndicated loan portfolio to approximately EGP 8.99bn at the end of June 2026, compared with EGP 5.81bn at the end of 2025.
The ranking covered the development of syndicated financing portfolios at 23 banks operating in the Egyptian banking sector for which financial statements were available. The data showed that 18 banks recorded positive growth rates during the first half of 2026, while five banks recorded declines.
Four banks maintained their positions among the 10 fastest-growing banks in syndicated financing during both H1 2026 and FY 2025: Housing and Development Bank, ADIB, Al Baraka Bank and NBK-Egypt, according to First Bank’s ranking.
CIB strengthened its position as the largest private-sector bank in syndicated financing, with a portfolio of EGP 95.51bn at the end of June 2026. AAIB maintained its second-place position, with a portfolio of EGP 88.21bn at the end of the period.
Among the Islamic banks included in the ranking, two secured spots among the 10 fastest-growing banks in syndicated financing, out of four Islamic banks covered by the analysis: ADIB and Al Baraka Bank.
It is worth noting that all values and growth rates mentioned in the above analysis are based on the independent financial statements disclosed by each bank as of June 30, 2026.
