alBaraka Bank, HD Bank, and ADCB Egypt top fastest growing banks in loan portfolio
First Bank list of the fastest growing Egyptian banks in total loans portfolio during 2022 revealed that alBaraka Bank – Egypt topped the list, after jumping with total loans at a growth rate of 46.15% during the past year, to record EGP35.380 bn by the end of 2022. compared to EGP24.208 bn by the end of 2021.
Housing and Development Bank came in second place with a growth rate of 41.68% over the past year, after its total portfolio of loans and facilities to customers jumped to EGP38.163 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP26.936 bn at the end of 2021.
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank - Egypt ranked third on the list, with a growth rate of 40.88% over the past year, bringing the bank’s total loans and facilities portfolio to customers to EGP 31.404 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP 22.291 bn by the end of 2021.
Ahli United Bank occupied fourth place after achieving a growth rate of 38.06% during the past year, as its total loans and facilities to customers increased to reach EGP53.495 bn at the end of 2022, compared to EGP38.748 bn at the end of 2021, followed by Attijariwafa bank, which jumped at a growth of 34.31% during the same period under analysis, occupying fifth place on the list.
Moreover, Commercial International Bank came in sixth place, after its total loans portfolio achieved a growth of 34.06% over the past year, to reach EGP218.633 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP163.088 bn by the end of 2021, followed by National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt in seventh place, recording a growth rate of 32.74% during the same period.
Al Ahli Bank of Kuwite – Egypt ranked eighth after its total loans and facilities to customers portfolio jumped at a growth rate of 29.10% over the past year, to record EGP34.650 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP26.840 bn by the end of 2021, followed by Banque du Caire in ninth place, which a growth rate of 25.40% during the same period.
Suez Canal Bank came in tenth place, achieving a growth rate of 25.13% over the past year, as total loans and facilities to customers portfolio increased to record EGP 32.137 bn by the end of 2022, compared to EGP 25.68 bn by the end of 2021.
It should be noted that all values and growth rates mentioned above are according to separate financial statements announced for each bank at the end of December 2022.
