Alex Bank, Banque du caire, ABK_Egypt, EGBANK, and HD Bank Among the Banks with the Highest Focus on personal Loans Investment
First Bank
In a recent report by First Bank, the banks that have shown the highest focus on investing in personal loans were revealed at the end of March, with Alex Bank leading the list at 43.17%. The bank's total customer loans reached EGP60.475 bn by the end of March 2023. The size of their personal loan portfolio stood at EGP 26.110 bn during the same period.
This list measures the investment trends of 18 banks in the Egyptian banking sector, based on their financial data for the analysis period. It specifically focuses on the level of personal loan portfolios, using the criterion of "personal Loans / Total Customer Loans" to provide an indicator of the bank's concentration on personal loans.
In the second position, Banque du caire held a 35.75% focus on personal loans in its portfolio, amounting to EGP50.832 bn out of a total customer loan portfolio of EGP142.194 bn by the end of March 2023.
The third spot was secured by ABK- Egypt, with 35.27% of its total customer loans being personal loans. The personal loan portfolio amounted to EGP 12.931 bn, while the total customer loan portfolio reached EGP36.667 bn by the end of March 2023.
EGBANK, claimed the fourth position, with a 26.68% focus on personal loans in its total portfolio of EGP31.064 bn. The retail loan portfolio stood at EGP8.288 bn by the end of March 2023.
HD Bank secured the fifth spot, with 23.94% of its total customer loans being personal loans, amounting to EGP9.367 bn. The bank's total customer loans reached EGP39.120 bn by the end of March 2023.
ADCB - Egypt ranked sixth, with 23.14% of its total customer loan portfolio focused on personal loans by the end of March 2023. It was followed by Emirates NBD - Egypt in the seventh position, with a concentration of 22.83% in the same period.
Crédit Agricole Bank - Egypt claimed the eighth position, with 22.24% of its total customer loans concentrated in its personal loan portfolio by the end of the first quarter of the current year. ADIB and aiBANK followed with concentration rates of 21.53% and 20.89%, respectively, by the end of March 2023.
It is worth noting that the values and concentration percentages mentioned in the analysis are based on separate declared financial statements of each bank at the end of March 2023.
